It seems like every day we wake up and turn the TV on, we are confronted with the news of another break in or another armed robbery. Crime statistics are reaching record highs, and criminals are becoming more brazen in their pursuit of some quick cash. A recent case saw the same 7/11 store robbed twice in one night. Robberies affect everyone, from the traumatised person behind the counter having a weapon shoved in their face, to shop owners and customers. While hiring security is the best option, we understand that this isn’t always feasible. Without security in place to deter would be criminals shop owners are left with few options. Electronic security in the form of closed circuit television (CCTV) is a terrific tool that is simply not being utilised effectively by business owners.

Every year thousands of school leavers flock to our sunny shores to celebrate the end of school and new beginnings. They come in droves; booking out hotels and bearing yellow wrist bands do identify themselves. What follows is a week of partying and fun in the sun. Schoolies sounds great in theory but the reality is quite different. Locals avoid Surfers Paradise and police and security professionals work tirelessly to maintain order and ensure the safety of the schoolies. For many, schoolies is a week of bad decisions and in some cases tragedy.

Binge drinking and alcohol related violence has become a real problem in Australia. On the average night out, it’s not uncommon for revelers to be witness to or involved in a violent confrontation.
